Bullshit stories like this have literally taken priority in the news coverage ahead of presidents being kings now, ahead of a convicted felon and rapist running for president, ahead of the head policy person in the Republican party threatening a civil war if they don't get their way, and a million other things that are a much bigger deal than this.

Trump is a known quantity dude. There is no news there. Its what we all know/ expect it to be: the worst of the worst.

Bidens fate isn't fixed. He's probably not the nominee at this point.

So there is a evolving story here, whereas with Trump, its like. Trump is the same dude he was 4 years ago, 8 years ago, and 12 years ago. He's as mentally deranged as ever, he wears heels and probably diapers, and maybe does speed. But he did all those things 12 years ago too.

1 year ago Biden had been ~~one of~~ the most progressive presidents in modern history. He had managed to find himself on the exact right side of every policy. He was able to get behind a microphone and communicate and convince and do the fundamental job of a President, which is to communicate rhetoric; to convince people of things.

Since then, he's found himself on the conservative/hawk side of Middle East policy, to the effect of hundreds of thousands of dead Palestinians. He's adopted Republican border policy thats some of the most draconian border policies we've seen in this country, ever. And he's demonstrated that he is unfit to do the fundamental job of a President, which is that of orator, communicator, rhetoriatician: The job of the President is to communicate and convince. He showed in the debate that he's not up for that. He showed in the follow on interviews that he can't fix it either. Him sending a "letter" to congress instead of getting back on stage? Its just further confirmation that he cant do the fundementals of the job.

There is no "news" with Trump. Its the same, deeply evil, shit from forever ago.

Biden is not a fixed quantity. We know that we don't exactly know what we are getting with him. There is deep uncertainty that he's capable of the task.

Nope. Not buying it and Trump is not just deranged but is a literal fascist. You're simply okay with him taking power because "biden too old". Fuck off with that. You're also helping normalize that behavior which is fucked.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You are fucking delusional if you think you are more 'opposed' to Trump winning than myself.

Your point: Trump is a literal facsist. Has that changed in 12 years?

No?

Ok. No story here.

Address my actual points on Biden and you'll understand the difference, otherwise you are just Blue Maga and by effect, setting Trump up for victory this election.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

You lose all credibility by using blue maga. And again, you're normalizing the behavior.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago

Its a useful word to use to describe the cult like behavior and detachment from material reality thats being demonstrated.

Its the exact kind of behavior that precursor the literal cult of personality that turned into MAGA,

Its also the very same group of psychologically broken people who are, as useful idiots, setting up Trump to win this election, so I think its appropriate.

Not being critical of Biden early, often, and severely, gave this entire election to Trump on a silver platter.

Biden is not a fixed quantity. We know that we don’t exactly know what we are getting with him. There is deep uncertainty that he’s capable of the task.

it hard to accept that this is true when we have over 50 years of track record on biden; he very much status quo and i see your references to middle east & border policies as a continuation of the status quo.

and i'm genuinely confused as to how he earned the title of the most progressive president given the actions he's taken past and present.

Oh, that's simple. Centrists are arrogant and think anyone who disagrees with them is a drooling moron who will believe any old bullshit. Look at their excuses for Biden's debate performance. Look at what they expect you to buy.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago

They needed a distraction.

If you ever wanted a clear fucking sign not to choose Harris then it's her polling worse than Clinton.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I feel like a lot of people still don't know who Harris is.

Every average joe off the street knows Clinton.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Of the 86 percent of likely voters who watched all or part of the debate, just 29 percent said Biden has the mental capacity and physical stamina to serve another four-year term, compared with 61 percent who said he does not. Only 33 percent said he should continue as the Democratic nominee, versus 52 percent who believe he should not.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Honestly at this point what the fuck are we doing. No possible candidates are even that tasteful.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Poll suggests a course of action centrists don't like. Thread is full of excuses for ignoring poll.

Looking at the down votes pile up for this. Utterly wild to see the denial of reality that is going on in this sub around Biden's lack of fitness for the role. It smacks so clearly of the cult that formed around DJT in r/TheDonald 2015. The brigading, captured moderation, rampant denial of material fact, the beginnings of a cult of personality, the weird weird mental gymnastics. Whats the phrase? History doesn't repeat but it sure does rhyme.

If I were a nation state looking to capsize the Democrats chance of victory right now, I would be specifically targeting individuals who are in the "Blue No Matter Who (but only Biden actually)"/ "Blue Maga", to amplify the effect of what they've started organically. Its identical to what happened via r/TheDonald, except that I suppose the spotlight / return on investment here is so low lemmy isn't seem worth targeting.

Anyways, the people downvoting this post, continuing to repeat the false narrative that we must stick with a candidate who is demonstrably lost in this election, they're the ones we all need to be pushing back against if we don't want to be frog marched into fascism.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i think it's worse than that: it seems that any pejorative article or post is heavily downvoted on lemmy.word where the rest of the lemmyverse has active discussions.

and it seems to track given my very few run ins w their modteam

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Its pretty shameless.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The doubling down of "we're ridin' with Biden" people are who's going to get Trump re-elected. Head in the sand.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Its incredibly weird to have Schiff as a bedfellow in the "Joe must go" campaign, but if we slip on our machiavalli glasses, it makes sense.

Schiff is running for senator. With Biden on the ticket, Schiff's five-million-dollar rat-fucking of Katie Porter gives us the Republicans a California senate seat.

The fact that players like Pelosi and Schiff are in opposition to Blue Maga; it shows that this isn't a fringe movement. House and senate members who understand the consequences of Biden as the nominee down ballot are in full blown break glass pull handle panic mode. If Biden is the nominee, Trump can enact all the elements of project 2025 through the normal legislative procedures. No supreme court necessary.

Biden isn't just a candidate that hands Trump the election, he's a candidate that hands the Republicans the house and the senate too.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

4% difference found in survey of 1000 people. 3% stated margin of error. Sounds like questionable methods or push polling, never heard of this polling firm. I'll have to look at the actual questions after work.

Most polls have only found changes in opinion toward Biden that fall within the margin of error.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I can't find much about them either. Only one other mention of them on Fivethirtyeight, so I'm leaning towards iffy.
