Hello all! I would love to bring my old subreddit /r/cybiko over to sh.itjust.works but can't figure out how to create a community! Is the ability to do so currently closed off or something or am I just being daft?

For some context, the Cybiko is this weird games console PDA thing from the early 2000s that was forgotten about almost immediately. I took over the subreddit around 4-5 months ago and had around 200 members that were somewhat active, but I privated that subreddit and nuked my account, so that's gone.

Yes it's disabled. Ask @TheDude to create it for you and make you a mod. There's a matrix server, or make noise here.

Sorry I don’t know the answer to your question (new Lemmy user here as well) but I gotta say, I had a Cybiko and thought it was so cool. I don’t remember getting much actual use out of it, but I remember the device fondly

It was such a weird, neat device that did not get the adoption it deserved. The idea of local proximity chat seemed sooo cool to little me.

Learned about it, missed my opportunity to get one, and regretted it.

Hey there,

Send me a PM with what you want to create and i’ll create and transfer it over to you. Disabled it for now until i add additional functionality to the mod bot.

Are we blocked from editing communities that we created? I tried to revise the sidebar of https://sh.itjust.works/c/jukebox and the "save" network works.

You should not be blocked from editing communities. If that's the case we'll have to open an issue with lemmy

Looks like it’s been disabled.

Currently, I don't see a way to create a community on the sh.itjust.works instance. Perhaps contact one of the mods?
Or, if you have an account on another Lemmy instance that allows community creation, you could create one there.
