I got that error when I tried to login to lemmy.world. Worked fine with lemm.ee.
.world is having issues at the moment.

I believe lemmy.world is currently experiencing downtime.
I'm using sh.itjust.works so that's not it
Sync crashes a lot from here for some reason, and shitjustworks had a down time just a minute or two ago.
Don't log in though this instance yet, or be prepared to uninstall and reinstall if you do.
Well I logged into the web version like a few minutes ago so idk if that's the problem.
Ditto, but it seems to be a problem with lemmy.world. I successfully logged into a different instance.
I have never been able to log in to Lemmy.world with any app. I think is may be the instance because I can log in anywhere else.
I had the same but it works with old.lemmy.com.
Any other details? Did you find your instance in the list?
Yes, it's sh.itjust.works, I put in my username and password and it just says invalid login. I even checked my password with the web version of the instance and the password is right
You might have to add "https://" in the beginning, but I doubt that that's it. What version is shitjustworks running on? Could be possible that sync can't log into older versions. Either that or the instance is just too overloaded.
It's running 0.18.2 which is like 1 minor version update behind

I thought I'd forgotten my password!
Same issue, but I run my own instance. The password is 1,000% correct, not sure what's wrong.
How long is ur password?

I'm trying to figure out how it's trying to log in, but log parsing in Lemmy is so hard when the server is shooting 2,000 lines per second. Other apps work fine with the same password.
huh, maybe try temporarily changing your password to like a short one to see if the length might be the issue probably like around 8 characters

I managed to log in, it was the length of the password, I changed my password to a shorter one and it worked

.world seems to be down at the moment.
I've signed up on a couple of instances to have access. Many instances have major growing pains at the moment.

It was for someone earlier. They reduced their characters down to 32 and managed to log in fine.
Turns out that was the issue :/
Glad you got it sorted.
As it turns out, the issue I was having earlier was due to CloudFlare blocking my login due to activity that looked like a bot. I cleared that rule and I'm all good now
