Everytime the line goes up another line goes up my nose!

Ah, that's why "Line goes up" is so important to investors

And when the line goes does down, I go down on another line.

"Middle Period"? That feels awfully optimistic to me.

Let me have this

I mean if you count the US empire as let's just say 1945-2035 or so... That's a 90 year period with 1985 as the center point. Wolf of Wall Street is dead center of the American empire, if you are a pessimist.

Alternatively, if you are counting American history writ large, you probably assume there will be some semblance of the United States for at least another 100 years. Then if you count it from let's just say 1800-2125 then the center point is 1962.

Yes I think the 80s are plausibly the middle period.

Right now you probably consider before the Civil War as the "first" and until the Second World War as the second and everything since as the third. But I don't think a historical account in the future will necessarily think the same way.

"Middle period"? You telling me they're only halfway done?

The 'middle period' of the USA will probably refer to something like post-reconstruction or ~WWII until whatever really sets off their decline/balkanization. Could be nowish.

I think the double whammy of covid and trump was the tipping point for our decline. We're just too close to it to see how quick the decline is in a historical sense. It's only been 4/8 years depending on where you're drawing the line and shits already so much worse

I don't think you are past the actual tipping point, just hurtling towards it, but I'm not entirely sure.

These kinds of things are always more obvious 100 years later, in hindsight

The Invisible Hand alone is gonna give historians such a secret society vibe

We live in the Late Murkin Empire

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

No, we live in the Late Murkin Republic.

We haven't even started the real Empire stage.

Hold on to your butts.
