Not sure how practical these will be, but I'm glad that folks are working on electric aircraft, which will be one of the more challenging transportation sectors to de-carbonize.

Clickbait.

They have not received certification to operate air taxis.

They have received 135 certification, which is the same certification a regular charter flight company has for doing helicopter or plane flights. They are certified to operate A BUSINESS, that's all.

The air taxis are not even certified for flight, let alone for passenger travel.

Thanks for clearing this up. I'm not super in the loop on what FAA requirement corresponds to what, but I'm looking into beginning the journey toward a private pilot's license this year or next.
