The white house won't even admit it's a genocide. There is no red line and never will be.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Well, no western country has either.

Here is the list in case anyone is interested:

  1. Bolivia
  2. Brazil
  3. Colombia
  4. Egypt
  5. Jordan
  6. Malaysia
  7. Namibia
  8. Pakistan
  9. South Africa
  10. Turkey

I think you might be missing a few. Eg Nicaragua, Maldives.

In terms of the West, Ireland, Spain, and Norway are probably close to openly calling it a genocide.

It's getting so bad that even white heads of state are considering calling it the genocide it is.

Yes, sooner or later it will be recognised by most.

I'm old enough to remember the years after the Cambodian Genocide when the US supported the genocidal Khmer Rouge being the representatives for Cambodia at the UN, locking out the actual government of Cambodia.

These travesties happen every so often.

Well, no western country has either.

So? Does that make continuing to enable genocide right? Is that some sort of fucking justification? If not, why bring it up? "Everyone else is doing it" is another shitty excuse, and the fourth I've seen here on lemmy. The other three, summarized:

"That's the way we've always done it;" "We might be called antisemitic by the party that chants 'Jews will not replace us';" and "Trump loves it so that makes it ok."

This is what I mean about support for genocide on lemmy. Making shit excuses for it instead of condemning it.

No. Just stop. You see something you don’t like and you make up a bunch of other subtext.

What we need LESS of is people acting like the US is the only country with power.

My comment is a lot more educational than you want to admit. A lot of people probably needed to know that the list of countries is small. Not because “genocide good,” but because those people probably thought the list was a lot longer—and they should be concerned about it.

I guarantee you couldn’t rattle off that list. All you know is USA USA USA USA.

That’s the problem with social media. You’re not here to fight genocide, you’re here to abuse people, and chase them into the far right wing with your false accusations.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

and chase them into the far right wing with your false accusations.

If you're going to be a trump supporter because I dared to suggest that you quit making shit excuses for genocide, you were already a trump supporter.

I know. That's why you keep trying to justify support for genocide with excuses.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That’s not what’s going on, and you know it. You’re just trying to make me feel bad by gaslighting me. It won’t work, because I know what you’re doing.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That’s not what’s going on, and you know it.

"Everybody's doing it" is an excuse.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I’m not saying that. You’re angry I want to be mad at ALL the 193 UN countries ignoring genocide and not just my own.

All we would need is 97 of them for a majority vote to pass a resolution. Why does the US even matter at that point?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The US is my country, and it being a democracy and me being a citizen, the only one for which I bear any responsibility.

Though it's probably easier to get 97 nations to oppose genocide than to convince Joe Biden to.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 months ago

Yeah yeah Biden Biden. Whatever. Want to do real good instead of zero good? Convince people in other countries, who could swing, to fight, and help them…. With your dollars. That might actually buy more than some tour busses and staff lunches.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 months ago

Biden said there’s a red line of Rafah is invaded. So Israel does airstrikes in Rafah and says they don’t count as in invasion. Bigger airstrikes with dozens dead and charred victims. Biden says they don’t count. The red line becomes squiggles and dotted line and neither says the line was crossed.

Today Israel sent TANKS into Rafah. Still think this doesn’t count as in invasion?

I'm mentally filing this under Not The Onion.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Biden is the guy democracy's fate rests on then we are screwed. Netanyahu continues to dog walk him and Biden can only smile and do nothing.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Doing nothing would be an improvement over selling weapons, going to bat for Netanyahu at the UN, and genocide denial.

EDIT: removed ambiguity.

Ahhh okay that makes sense

[–] [email protected] -1 points 3 months ago

Yeah, it was worded ambiguously. I'm gonna fix it.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 months ago

Israel did violate.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 months ago

White house to check if biden even has any balls.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

Not enough dead babies. Aw shucks.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Biden’s going to call Netanyahu and tell him that he is disappointed in him.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

He would get hung up on.
