"If you watched the Anime you know why this upbeat song is actually severely depressing!"

"Fuck off Tim, we want to get drunk."

When CDs were first put into jukeboxes in the 80s, I know someone who played "Revolution 9" like 10 times in a row. It was me.

We did Zombie by the Cranberries. Would usually get through the first 4 or 5 plays before an employee would come and unplug the jukebox.

Pizza Hut we were at in a small town had a CD jukebox. My friend drops $20 in that machine and plays Alvin and the Chipmunks "Witch Doctor" for all his songs. Couple hours later he realizes he forgot his wallet there so we had to go back and the song was still playing.

I did the same with Hava Nagilah. After multiple incidents of an hour plus of it, the restaurant staff nicely asked me to stop.

You did good.

Lots of places are digital now. Know where your friends are? Play tubthumping 10 times in a row.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Always a classic for your bartender friends. Unfortunately, they always know how to turn the volume down.

There's a skip button for a reason.

I have a regular who I have to periodically remind not to play what I call "novelty songs."

It's like, "Sarge, I know that you genuinely want to listen to Monster Mash, followed by four different James Bond movie theme songs, but you're killing the vibe here."

do they accept links to youtube

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

I would assume not for copyright purposes. Don't wanna get sued.

I was curious what his shirt originally said that had everyone terrified. Turns out it was blank and it's just the fact that he's old.

[-] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago

It's not like there's gonna be any Hatsune Miku on the jukebox.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

I don't think there's a whole lot of intersection between Calliope Mori and Hatsune Miku when it comes to music, but I'm not super familiar with Calli's catalogue, so I could be wrong.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Calli has covered vocaloid songs before. That's about it

Known as "wyatting" about 15 years ago in the UK, in honor of Robert Wyatt, when they installed the first digital jukeboxes with millions of unskippable songs, some used the opportunity to select the densest, most obnoxious material, which obviously included Mr. Wyatt's most obtuse pieces... and boy did he have some doozies.

At some pub after a runway show, where designers and models were partying it up, some bloke selected the entirety of Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music". The party dissolved pretty soon after the "tunes" started.

Cultural guerrilla vandalism at its' finest.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I would have just played Warm Leatherette a dozen times.

[-] [email protected] 14 points 2 months ago

I'm Extremely surprised to see a Cali reference on here. The Picard Maneuver is very cultured I see.

He's gonna kill 'em with the bass.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

It shouldn't really be on a Jukebox I think, though End of a Life by MC is one of my favorite songs. It just has so much self and history and weight, plus it sounds great. I dunno. Good music is good music and tastes differ.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

What would he play, if allowed to get to that jukebox?
Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music"!

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town...

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah the 20th Imagine Dragons song the rest of the other basic chuds having been playing the past 2 hours is so preferable.

I only like jukeboxes when I have more money than anyone else because most people have shit taste in music

He could have gone sneaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking-neaking
