In a desperate bid to regain some semblance of authority, they're resorting to banning platforms like TikTok which only serves as further evidence of the west's waning influence and growing irrelevance on the world stage.

While this is just old-people being confused and told what to do by Israeli lobbyists, it's worth noting that the US has a great deal of influence over Facebook, many newspapers like the NYT, Washintgon Post, Youtube, and even Twitter. Not total control mind you, but enough where if they want a particular video delisted, or don't like that a trend is happening, they have ways they can shut it down.
Not so with Tiktok (or most of the other less popular social media apps.)
