Something I learned somewhat recently, Flat Earthers believe all other heavenly bodies are globular. It's only Earth that is flat.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 4 months ago

That is somehow even stranger.

Talk about moving the goalposts without consulting pi

Yeah, there are better arguments for a flat earth. I wonder if this could be used to convince the nutters to reduce carbon emissions. #KeepEarthFlat

At first I was like “shouldn’t the be flat Venus?” But then Venus is closer to the sun, so it must be above us. So this makes sense.

Tell flat-earthers that the earth is flat, but wrapped around so that when you leave one edge of the map you re-enter on the other side - like Pac Man but in every direction. And thus the flat earth only looks spherical but is in fact a hollow ball made from a flat sheet.

Then watch to see if they switch to being hollow-earthers instead lol

Now you have projective-plane-earthers!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Or more likely torus-earthers, unless the gluing is reversed.

"Like Pac Man but in every direction" sounds more like a projective plane to me.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

A few of them already do believe this.

thats downright boring next to some of the models they come up with.

there is a model with a hollow/torus earth,
were the sun is on the inside, while we are on the outside.

the sun dips up and down anlong the poles and leaves through the gigant holes in the arctic&antarctic (that nasa covers up)
which causes the daylight cycle.

and the sun moving throughout the sky is just an illusion caused by atmospheric lensing

I think it is more of a tiling block system so as you move the edge of the map it the blocks detach from the far side and move in front of you before you reach the edge.

this reminds me of inside job

Should have used a jet pack to get to flat heaven. Could have ended up in flat hell.

Are we just going to ignore this man can stand on water? Granted, if you're a flat-earther, the sky is the limit to what you can believe.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

The sky is also flat.

Please. Send flat earthers to Mars so they can finally shut up about the earth being flat.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Well, they'll see a disk and still be unconvinced.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

But then they'll remain unconvinced away from us.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I dunno, rent is pretty cheap on mars from what I hear...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

You get what you pay for, though. Not a lot of amenities. No in-unit washer/dryer, no pool, Internet is probably super slow, no central heating, BYO oxygen. Nice views though!

Falling flat.

Anyway, is there a border or something there? All that water, and none splashes around.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 4 months ago (2 children)

According to flat earth theory... Antarctica is the border. It's a giant ice wall that surrounds the edges of the earth and keeps the water in.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

Their world seems so limiting. I wonder if that makes them feel safer or something.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Do they believe in global warming? What happens when the ice wall melts? Will Jon Snow be there?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

Well, the entire South border of the map has land under the ice.

The fact that it's a single point makes this easier.

[–] TheRealLinga 2 points 4 months ago

You know nothing, Jon Snow

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

These are all good questions. Unfortunately the answers are just unknowable.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Antarctic ice is actually expanding, despite global warming. Arctic ice is melting, but flatzoids think that's in the middle of a flat earth.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Why aren't they wearing pants?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

So they don't shit them?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

I didn't know they made a manga adaptation of The Room.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Kaido trying to suicide.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

I think that the vast majority of people out there that say earth is flat are just part of some kind of paid-troll group to start shit with other people.

What I mean is, I think the vast majority of flat-earthers don't actually believe what they're saying.
