Not sure if you’re on iOS, but I’ve used Overcast for years and absolutely love it. There’s a function called “sort by oldest/newest by podcast” which I use for exactly the function you’re looking for!

I mean doesn't sorting by old -> new in AntennaPod do this?
Update: I ended up switching to AntennaPod anyway because of another minor problem in Podverse, and realized you could also filter out all episodes you've already listened to. This still doesn't do exactly what I wanted (add the next episode to queue automatically), but it's still more convenient as I don't have to scroll past the episodes I've listened to to find the next one.
Yeah, Podverse has that too, I meant adding the next episode to the queue automatically.
