When asked if Reddit will remove the protesting messages [nb: "fuck /u/spez"], spokesperson Courtney Geesey-Dorr pointed to the r/Place canvas rules. One of those rules says that βtargeted hate or harassment of private individuals (including mods and admin) and protected groups are violations of our [content] policy (Rule 1) and will be removed. In addition, posts, comments, and imagery that are hateful, graphic, sexually-explicit, and / or offensive are violations of our policy (Rule 6) and will be removed.β

You were right, most of those messages have already been replaced by pictures. It was expected but it's still disappointing that redditors can't do something together.

There are videos of admins blatantly removing it.
That's hilarious. And sad. I wouldn't be surprised if they feigned stupidity and claimed that the users were "glorifying violence" with the guillotine.
Yet they left it visible in their own public video recap ( and the removal)
They want censorship, they just aren't very good at it.
Love seeing the fight continues. Hoped to see some fediverse propaganda along with it. However, I'm personally not really interested in taking part in anything that makes me use that website, so it's understandable.
I wonder if we could pull something similar off...
It'd be interesting to see how that would work with federation. But conceptually implementing any kind of event that works across instances is a fascinating idea.
Not till we have a lot more people. There are smaller place clones, but they're not nearly as interesting
The canvas size just needs to be relative to the size of the userbase. If there's no competition for space, it's less interesting.
