I'm trying to get an apache server running, but I can't even set up Ubuntu server because I can't type anything in the terminal. Things like ctrl + alt + F# work, but I can't actually type. I tried using a graphical installer and that worked, both keyboard and mouse, but this is meant to be a server so having a graphical environment isn't really that optimal. I'm not sure if ESXi is to blame, or if it's Linux. This issue persists on both Ubuntu and Debian.
It should be noted that I am connected to my computer through Chrome Remote Desktop. The desktop is connected to my server. I thought that was the issue at first, but I texted someone in my house to try typing onto a terminal, with no results. I saw the cursor blinking in reaction as they typed into the username prompt, but nothing actually came up. I don't think the username prompt has text that's meant to be hidden when typed into, so I think this means it's not Chrome Remote Desktop doing this.
If any extra info is needed, I am happy to supply it. Thanks :)
