Hello everyone, I'm starting my first homelab on an old pc with I5 6th gen (4 cores, 4 threads), 32GB RAM and an SSD boot drive.

My goal is to run HASS, AdGuard or PiHole, Lidarr, NextCloud (linked to an external synology nas), password locker and maybe 1/2 VM for test usage. I'm not an expert in servers but know my fair share, I'm just a bit overflooded by all the OS possibilities and I'm having a hard time figuring out what's the best solution according to my limited RAM (max capacity).

  1. Should I get an hypervisor? If yes, how can I split RAM for these usages?
  2. Should I run everything in docker from a single Debian distro?
