Currently I'm using a Z906 on my main TV, but I'm considering moving these elsewhere and buying a 'real' setup instead of a cheap HTIB/soundbar. Looking around, it looks like I'm going to need a minimum of £500-1000 for a basic 5.1 setup depending on the speakers, receiver, etc.
As a temporary cost cutting measure, I was wondering whether the speakers from my old (and unfortunately failing) stereo system might be usable for left/right channels, at least for a while? Then I can concentrate on the AV receiver and maybe the other speakers initially, building over time.
The stereo model is the Technics ST-CA1060, with the speakers being SB-CA1060. These are the specifications in the manual, top right:
Obviously these are old and not going to be the best, possibly even a downgrade on the Z906, but again it would only be a stop gap and I plan on mainly being in the room I'd be moving the Z906 to anyway for the spring/summer.
Currently I don't have any specific AVR/speakers purchases in mind, I'm just looking around trying to get rough prices in mind.
Thanks in advance.
