If this doesn't tell you republicans are racist, I don't know what will.

I'm not even sure it's that.... "principled"? For lack of a better word. I don't know what the piece of shit version of that word is. But I think this is just them clutching at power any way they can. Being racist is either a non-issue or the asshole cherry on their asshole sundae.
This tracks. I have some republicans in the family, and they aren’t super racist against conservative voting non-whites. Democrat is a much worse word to them than Black or Mexican.
Unless they move next door…
So they’re not super racist. Just kind of racist. And only kind of racist to minorities who vote against their own self interests to try and I guess win over said ‘only kind of racist’ family members.
I think you’re in denial about your racist family members and I suspect when you’re not around they’re more than happy to discuss their racist viewpoints amongst each other. Just a guess tho.
No. They are very racist against minority democrats in front of me. Being a conservative makes someone “one of the good ones”. I’m not justifying or excusing their behavior. Just providing some insight as to their priority ladder of hate.
Self righteous might fit the bill.
Alternatively; cunt
I just read something that put it into a different perspective. Yes, they are racist, but what really chafes Republicans asses is being told what to do. Having empathy for people unlike them is so far down the rabbit hole, it's almost non-existent. Hope that makes sense.
The Supreme Court has no enforcement arm. That's why the court loosing it's credibility is kind of a big deal for Roberts.
As racist as this obviously is, it's good to see a red state be the test case for ignoring the court. It might give blue states more energy to ignore the next 40 years of authoritarian and climate denial rulings.
No court has an enforcement arm. Its all done by law enforcement. Hence the name. The Judicial Branch has to wait for the Executive Branch to enforce the ruling.
The court losing its credibility is kind of a big deal for everyone.
Here is the thing though my man the blue states would rather respect the rule of the land to try and set an example for the people voting for the red states.
Imo it's kinda like how the vast majority of the time the usa treats pow's pretty well even when we know the enemy won't. We don't want to become like them so we have to hold ourselves above them.
Also you took the user name I wanted originally. So I hope you get good use out of it lol.
You make a really good point. Dems do tend to take the high road.
Also, I was surprised it was available! I only got it on .world, so you might be able to get it in a different instance.
Nah Dems are the good guys, they can't just do things.
Alabama embracing their stereotype
that hits home. sweet home...
boom selecta!
Ribbit
What is the next step in challenging this? Can they continue ue to do this indefinitely? It's amazing that there is no real enforcement to an order from the Supreme Court. Republicans want it both ways... Use their packed court to force unpopular opinions on everyone else and ignore any rulings they don't like. This is fucked
It's up to the other branches (typically the executive branch) to enforce Supreme Court rulings. Back in the day, when states were way more independent, that'd probably mean mobilizing the National Guard. Nowadays, all the Federal gov has to do is withhold federal subsidies and any state (especially Alabama) will cave quickly.
The Republican party abandoned decorum a long time ago.
Do they see themselves as cartoon villains twirling their mustaches? Because I do.
I see them with toothbrush mustaches myself.
We are all Sweet Polly Purebred on this glorious day.
Meanwhile, MTG is beating the Speaker's gavel to death calling for decorum...
There was a great quote in the article pointing out that throughout history, the majority white Alabama legislature has had to be forced by courts to do the right thing.
It's an extremely subtle but intense attack. They're basically saying that the behavior of Alabama Republicans is no different from their predecessors who wanted to preserve slavery and Jim Crow. Course, the legislature probably sees it as a badge of honor -- until Gen Z comes around to the poll booth.
Not to mention, I don't think Republicans want to exactly suggest ignoring the supreme court right now. There's a laundry list of decisions for liberals to ignore in that case.
Typical GOP play "I am free to tell you what to do but you can't tell me what to do."
Don't worry, they'll tell them to change it again, after the '24 Election.
