Trying to install a new leviton switch in an old house with shallow device boxes everywhere. Old switch was slightly deeper but since the new switch has leads I now need to add 3 marettes so the new switch doesn't fit. Is there a reason manufacturers do this? It's infuriating. I know the leads off the switch don't count for box fill since they don't leave the box and technically 3 marettes only count as 1 extra conductor so by code I am within box fill....but the switch physically will not fit in the box lol.
