/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

  1. The mods here silently, without even notifying me, removed an ontopic non rule violating shitpost (literally just a screenshot) without giving a reason

  2. I made a thread asking why since they never gave a reason

  3. The mods said my original post violates "rule 2" (despite rule two being completely unrelated) said it was "inflamatory" (again, a screenshot from star trek) the title is "a persons name" (its not) and LOCKED the thread before I could ask for clarification.

Am I crazy or is this exactly the sort of arbitrary behavior we thought we were getting away from? What do ""rules"" matter if they can be interpreted to mean whatever a power hungry mod wants them to mean? They might as well of said "not seeking jamahron"

Ten seconds until they lock this too, despite it not being against any rules either...

  1. It was a drama-based shitpost.
  2. As mentioned, it was removed for being uncivil. The reason for this is because the title was the name of another user. You then edited your title moments before making your last post asking why the post was removed. This can be demonstrated in the below screenshots.

Original post:

Questioning post:

Whether you delete the post or we remove it, it does not matter. Lemmy mods are able to see the posts after deletion specifically in moments like this when users try to delete previous posts to cause drama.

  1. The thread was locked because it had no benefit to the community to continue the conversation, much like this post. However, you were merely told what the problem was last time. This is now a warning. If you continue this behavior we will have to ban you from the community for a short period as a timeout. If you continue the behavior after that, you will be banned for longer and longer periods of time.

I hope this answered your questions. The post has now been locked. Good bye and have a good day.

Why is it that, no matter what section of the internet you're on, people that get moderated post this kind of shit?

Like, if you got your shit removed in the first place, it doesn't matter why. If the mods were power tripping, a post like this isn't gong to last. If they weren't, and it was a mistake, you've now been a dick, so a post like this makes your situation worse. If it was a justified action, then this kind of post just proves you shouldn't be allowed in polite company, so it makes your situation worse.

And it isn't like you can make this kind of whiny shit and get people on your side. Nobody likes a fucking whiner.

You aren't going to get some kind of grass roots rebellion because that's not how things work. The best you can hope for is an admin intervening, and the chances of that happening are only marginally better than it ending well. Most of the time, once you've wasted an admin's time and energy, you just get banned.

Dude, grow the fuck up. If you get a post removed, that's the end of it. If you want an explanation, ask for one politely via private message or whatever, then wait for an answer because nobody out there works for you. If one doesn't come, and you don't like that, go start your own community and run it however you like. Fuck, this is lemmy, you can literally make your own instance of it with blackjack and hookers. Well, I'm sure getting hookers to use lemmy in their free time won't be free, but that's Bessie beside the point.

Do yourself a favor and delete this post, it isn't going to do anything at all useful for you.

They did tell you why:

Your post was removed for being inflammatory and uncivil, violating rule 2, due to your title being a specific users name. You edited the title of the post mere moments before making this post.

c/tenforward is a place for chat and conversation but that it isn’t a place for drama
