MODERATORS

With little legislation having been passed into law, impeachment is quickly becoming a go-to release valve for a fractious and frustrated House Republican majority.

Republicans are entering their impeachment era.

The House majority is kicking off the new year by aggressively advancing existing impeachment inquiries into President Joe Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Now, Republican lawmakers are launching new threats to impeach Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Attorney General Merrick Garland, as well.

Rep. Matt Rosendale, R-Mont., has announced articles of impeachment after Austin failed to inform the White House for three days that he had been hospitalized. Rosendale, who is considering a possible Senate bid this year, proclaimed Monday that Austin has “violated his oath of office time and time again, and has jeopardized the lives of the American people.”

The same evening, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., indicated in an interview with Newsmax that Garland could also be subject to impeachment if the Justice Department doesn't charge Hunter Biden with contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena.

So would garland also have to charge the other people who ignored a congressional subpoena?

Well it’s because they want to trivialize impeachment.

The GOP are getting good at this whole making the worse case true. They’ll go on about how Government is horrible at making medical choices and then block every advancement of healthcare solutions and say “See! I told you we were bad at this!”

They went on and on about how Trump’s impeachment were politically motivated and so now they are demonstrating politically motivated impeachment as a “See! We told you impeachment were politically motivated!”

Everything they indicate that they bemoan about politics, they themselves bring into reality.

Even the border situation falls into this pattern. Republicans love to complain about how horrible the border is, but when Democrats propose more money for the border or fixing our immigration system, the Republicans balk. They'd rather give border agents no equipment and then blame Democrats for undocumented immigrants flooding over the border.

That's because they don't really want to fix anything. Instead, they want to break whatever they can, cause chaos and stoke the anger.

It makes sense. When they imagine the government they imagine it with them in charge, so from that lens the government will always make the worst decisions.

It amazes me that we've gotten to the point where our elected representatives act like petulant children. Was this a misstep, yes. That is all it was though. A mistake was made, a process was reviewed, changes were made. This is how adults handle mistakes.

45 want a mistake, he was an unmitigated disaster. He hasn't 'learn his lesson' and half of the country is about to repeat that same mistake.
