“I wish I had not spent that money on that, it was a poor choice.”

“We should have never moved here.”

“I should have done that, not this.”

“I really wish I had never listened to that person for doing this.”

Regret is a feeling that can arise from different situations such as a purchase, a reaction to a situation, or a decision at work. It is a feeling that we can change.

We all make decisions every day based on different factors and reasons. Do you have any regrets about the decisions you have made? If yes, what are they and why?

Regret usually stems from the belief that we should have acted differently based on a poor understanding of the situation, mainly due to a lack of information.

We all make both good and poor decisions based on the information we have at the time and the expected outcome. When things work out well, we consider our decision as good.

However, when things don't go as planned, we tend to blame ourselves with negative thoughts such as "I should have known better" or "Why was I so stupid?"

So, what can we do? Firstly, we need to trust ourselves and acknowledge that we made the decision based on the information we had at that time.

Secondly, we need to reflect on our decisions with curiosity and compassion rather than being judgmental. We can write down our thoughts about the decision and try to understand why we made the decision in the first place.

We should not beat ourselves up for making a poor decision. Instead, we should approach it with a positive mindset, such as "it didn't work out the way I wanted, but that's okay. What can I do differently moving forward?"

Lastly, we need to move forward, regardless of what has happened. We can ask ourselves why we are dwelling in the past and how it is helping us now.

We may need to apologize to ourselves or someone else and explore what we need to do to let go of the regret.

The key is to allocate our energy towards something more productive and value-added.

Overall, we all make bad decisions sometimes, but we need to learn to move forward and let go of regret.

By being forgiving towards ourselves and acknowledging that we made the best decision we could with the information available, we can overcome the feeling of regret.
