Case

Victoria Elizabeth Bowers (17) was last seen leaving her house on foot on May 30, 1973 in Deltona, Florida. No further details are available, but the NamUs profile was not added until February 27, 2019. She had brown hair, blue eyes, and a glass left eye. If she is still alive today, she would be 68.

Notes

Due to the lack of information, there is very little to speculate on. The wording makes it appear like she may have run away, yet her casefile has only been classified as endangered missing as far as I'm concerned.Something I found interesting was her resemblance to several photos which were located in the storage locker of serial killer Rodney Alcala (1, 2, and 3). Known for his ability to charm, Alcala was able to persuade many people throughout the United States into being photographed by him. It is known that he killed at least one of the many people he photographed. As a result, the Huntington Beach Police Department has since released a cache of his other photos in the hopes of identifying more potential victims. These photographs can be seen here.

It should also be noted that Alcala was incarcerated during her stated disappearance, but given how long it took for NamUs to upload her casefile and the lack of attention her case has received, it would not surprise me if the provided date of disappearance was inaccurate. On the other hand, it is not out of the realm of possibilities for her to have survived for a while after her disappearance while laying low, as this was the 70s and it was easier to evade detection back then. Either way, this is a missing person case that has sadly been forgotten after all these years.
