I'm building a new pc, and I'm torn a bit on which cpu to get.
I have a i7-8700k right now.
I'm uncertain if I should get a i7-14700 or an i9-14900. They're both way faster than my current cpu, but they don't seem that far off, with the i9 only being about 15% faster, but it's a bigger power hog and runs hotter.
I game (flatscreen and VR) but I also do a fair amount of video and sound editing and art.
So far the specs are going to be:
CPU: i7-14700 or i9-14900
Peerless Assassin cpu fan
Asus RoG Strix z-690 E wifi mobo
G.Skill Trident z5 DDR 5 64gb
Samsung 870 QVO 2tb SSD
Crucial MX500 2tb SSD
Seagate Ironwolf 8tb HDD
Gigabyte RTX 3080 gpu
Corsair RM1000e ATX Power Supply
Fan Case Fans 2 200mm Intake fans (front and side) 1 top 200mm exhaust, 1 120mm rear exhaust.
