Watching City cut through Tottenham(and most teams to be fair) with almost every attack makes our performance against them at the Emirates that much more special.

That’s what happens when you have a manager with game awareness and tactical know-how

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Because everyone has their heads up man citys backside.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah but spurs have injuries….🤣🤣- 4th loss in a row incoming and they dont even play mid week hahahaha

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Arent spurs missing key defensive players tho? I love to rag them on but spurs arent good when theyre not carried by their stars

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Newcastle at St James too where every team including PSG has been battered so far. Their whole xG was created by their “goal”.

City setup narrow af against us, I'm really not sure how they expected to break us down like that but it wasn't that great a defensive performance. The numbers are always gonna be low when the match is so slow and cagey.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Or that our only loss was a 1 nil defeat away.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

They’re a different team without Rodri

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

We are massive. We have the best defense in Europe and I won't hear otherwise. Desperately want Timber tho because Zinny is a liability lately.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

They score 2 against city.

Edit. 3 lmao. They are even better.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I appreciate our defensive efforts this season but to be fair, Spurs have almost half of the starting 11 out due to injuries. 3 of them being in the back. Like. You can’t expect the bench to hold up City.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I agree, but it might be a bit different at the Etihad. Still they look pretty vulnerable in defense when they go full on attack, so I think we can beat them there.

We went punch for punch (block for block technically) with City and came out on top. And it was the first time I felt our teams were even.

But de Bruyne coming back will free City so we have to be ready to win every remaining game.

Anything we do that’s good isn’t talked about enough. Take MoTD last night, all they talked about is what wolves did wrong vs our two outstanding goals

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Everyone in the league has basically forgotten that we beat city, wolves are brought up every time but not us

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

They’re playing with 4 full backs in their back line mate

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Tbf the way they play and especially the players they got in CB today doesn't help haha

I'm still hoping they somehow someway steal a point or more today

Edit: Ange is genuinely cooking can't lie.

With that team and those CBs playing like that? Scoring twice? Mad.

Definitely lucky they didn't concede more but they play silky stuff ngl.

They'll mess up as always ofc but hopefully they don't lose in these last few minutes...

Edit 2: lol Bissouma had a stinker tonight. "Better than Rice" my ass

Edit 3: nicely done chickens. Nicely done.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I mean with an Emerson Royal CB masterclass from Brave Ange any team would cut through them

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Spurs are trying to play attacking football without CBs though…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Our defence is the best in the league this season easily. Gabriel, Saliba and Rice are monsters.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

We’re doing it to Liverpool too, just watch us.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Safe to say Spurs are not going to win anything with this approach. Exciting to watch but way too porous at the back.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

City are the strongest home team on planet earth. Not fair to compare them at home vs away as they were vs us

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

This game is so boring.

Previous city vs spurs games were exciting when they used to sit back and no give an inch to city. But they are so open, their midfield lines are so high to defense, it's scary. It's like last season city cut us open at etihad.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah but Spurs are just so so brave.

I don’t see the point of the comparisons in the comments.

We’re obviously strong defensively this season, but it’s not like it we’re in a position to brag considering our record v City after beating them in one match at home.

“This game is boring” - yeah, so was ours against City.

Spurs have the best record against City and they’ve got a significant chunk of their starting XI out - it’s the equivalent of Rice, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomi, Ode & then some - at the same time including mid-serious injuries. Both times played poorly too and City weren’t at their peak. Under those circumstances (consider if we were in that position), 3 goals against City & limiting them to just 2 (& zero for Halaand) and drawing overall for a point at the start of a rebuild is a solid effort.

Anyway, that’s the second time this season that Simon Hooper has made a howler of a ref decision against the team playing Spurs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

and they’ve got a significant chunk of their starting XI out - it’s the equivalent of Rice, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomi, Ode & then some -

Alternatively it is the equivealent of Timber, White, Partey, Odegaard and Jesus. You know, the exact line of players who were out for us for several rounds. We managed, but Spurs crumbled.

Spurs are blaming their poor run of games on injuries, but they have about the same as us, nut most of ours have been out for longer. And lets be honest, them missing Richarlison isn't exactly a huge loss. They have had two players out due to suspensions on top of the injuries, but thats not bad luck. Thats just the consequences of dumb play. Spurs haven't been hit and harder by injuries than any other team, with several teams being hit way harder than them

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Spurs look abysmal, they will compete with the likes of Chelsea and Man U with this team

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Besides that shit Spurs team. Countless time that Emerson guy lost his shit. Thank god we went for Benny instead
