I played this game back in like 2001-2002. Can’t believe it’s still going.

Everquest II was released in 2004. It is pretty crazy that they are still releasing expansions for it. And it's kinda crazy that I played it for at least a hundred hours earlier this year during a nostalgia binge.

Original EverQuest is still going and it's from 91. Now it's real by iirc a Russian company but same game.

I remember some TV show trying to make everquest look bad or simply misunderstanding what logging out meant. The angle that was being pushed was you can't logout if you are attacked, so you need to keep playing. Obviously being forced to stay logged in would interfere with your rl obligations!
