Guys, I've run out of buckets for all these NUFC fan tears. I need more buckets!
The Arsenal
For anyone still looking for tickets for tonight, the exchange has 100s right now.
Did chiesa damage his meniscus along with his ACL injury? Hes completely lost his acceleration
Jesus.
Seeing spurs fans wishing death upon Matty Cash over a football tackle. Poor challenge but damn. Some of that crowd need to give their head a wobble.
A bit sad. I think today will be the first time i will not watch the game live this season. I am very tired and not intending to put alarm at 5 am.
Usually I do it but not today.
How many in the arsenal squad are world class? Define WC and list:
For me world class means your talent would not look out of place starting for Citeh, Barca, RM or Bayern.
Saliba , Saka, Odegaard and Rice.
and damn people here have some ugly recency biased, Odegaard was easily our best player last season and everybody said he was world class even outside the fanbase. He was injured and needs to adapt to some tactical changes and he is still good in his role (he is not supposed to be bruno fernandes pinging every ball to the forwards), calm down.
World class for me is: do they get into a world XI + bench?
I think saka and rice are there or thereabouts. Saliba well on his way into that team
Ramsdale 😠 🔪
To me world class is top 2-5ish players in your position in the world, it requires consistency of top performance, and there is also a base standard you have to clear (this is what determines whether their are 2 world class players at a position or 5).
I would say Saliba, Saka, and Rice are world class. Odegaard was playing at a world class level last season and certainly can be world class, but doesn't have the consistency yet.
I'd also shout out Martinelli who think can and will become world class, but isn't yet.
For me "world class" is defined as "would the best teams in the world find a way to get you into their first XI". Only guys I see that are in that class are Saliba, and arguably Rice & Saka, though I think those two are just a touch short.
Score Predictions for tonight? I'm going 2-1 to the Arsenal, odegaard and martinelli on the scoresheet and at least one starboy assist
3-0
Havertz Trossard and Saka goals
3:0 to the Arsenal with Martinelli, Rice and Havertz on the scoresheet.
Need Eddie to score a champions league goal for agenda purposes
I’d say 4-1 arsenal
Rice, saka, saliba, martinelli goals
At some point in the summer was feeling really good about the depth of our squad. Now feel we need to add at least another few players which is disappointing.
Honestly the main thing I'm happy about with last night isn't the terrible VAR decision. That's just bad for the game no matter how you look at it, but it keeps happening and when we tried to speak up about it, we got fucking dogpiled.
The main thing I'm happy about is now we will see without a shadow of a doubt who is on the take in the media to protect certain clubs and tear down others. The difference in reaction with what happened to us vs what happened to Newcastle will be stark and telling IMO
Given so many of our players are 24yo (Osimhen being that age too) and that most will peak around ~26yo, we’re looking at this being both a potential title run and transitional season with the final form of Arteta’s squad being in 2 seasons, right?
The top 4-6 teams are also rebuilding, so the competition will only get tougher in upcoming seasons.
I didn’t know that Ødegaard spoke Spanish to Teta and the coaching staff god they really are besties that’s so cute
The prevailing trend in discussing the team assumes that something will happen which will improve the team's overall attacking output. There's tension between our position in the table and the team not appearing to have any idea on how to create chances in the current set up. Arsenal still has the 11th best npxG and xG from open play trails behind Everton, Brentford, Brighton, City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool, Tots, and Villa. Arsenal has scored 13 goals from open play, the same as Wolves and Bournemouth. 38% of the team's non-penalty goals have from from set pieces, only Luton and Everton are more reliant. Nothing about this attacking output screams title challenger, its mediocre.
Arteta's discussion yesterday about the game state and opposition strategy is relevant, but I am not sure it offers a complete explanation for the steep drop in output. Open play goals/90 are down to 1 from 1.84 and open play xG/90 is down to 1.25 from 1.68. We are taking improvement for granted, and Arteta deserves some benefit of the doubt here, but I'm curious in what he will do to effectuate what's needed.
People who keep up to date with academy stuff, Sagoe Jr, Nwanweri, and Lewis Skelly are the only names I know and Sagoe Jr is only because he played vs Brentford in the cup.
Who's rated, are any of them expected to make it?
