I'm sure a huge amount of people are. Had I bought an 8700k instead of an 8600k, I'd still be on 8th gen. That CPU is still in part with the consoles.

60fps is pretty pedestrian these days. Once you start gaming with higher framerates in mind, the newer cpus make a lot more sense.

heck im still on a 8700k oc'ed, upgrading would be epic but as far as gaming goes, i only really play lol, ow2 and the occassional singleplayer tomb raider - rig still does the job to this day

The microcenter deals are very tempting, especially the 14700k. Anyone have a good estimate on how much a 9700k/motherboard/16g ram/850w psu/watercooler should be sold for? Around $600?

10600k/3070. I play at 1440p and over the last year have had to start tuning things and making performance choices to get the framer rates I want. That said, games still look really good in the end, and there are only a small handful of games I'm not terribly interested in that just demand too much from my computer. So, yeah, I'm still waiting.. We will see what I think of the landscape a year from now.

On the contrary, I just recently upgraded to the 13900k. Upgraded from the Intel Core 2 Duo e4500, which I kept and used for a long time.

I'm on 9th and the lows and stutters are really getting to me. Depending on how life looks like next spring/summer I'll get the 14700k. Might still wait for the 15th if things are dire

YES, 10900K Here. Seems plenty fast to me still.

5820K+4070 here. Happily playing games at 4K@60FPS, or better (sometimes requiring DLSS, admittedly). I was hoping Sapphire Rapids/W790 would be as economic as the X99/X299 HEDT platforms of old, but that's not really the case, even allowing for nearly a decade of inflation.

I can see me reluctantly settling for the mere 2-3x performance gains of a 13700K/14700K unless something better - and yet still economic to buy - arrives.

The 13600k is insanely fast, better then the 12900ks in gaming, 13th gen was where it was at honestly, alder lake was nice, raptor lake was a big jump for me personally, got a 13900k and it’s the only cpu that can handle my 4090

Yep, i am still rockin a 10900 with unlocked power limit and undervolting.

My guy I’m still on an i5-9400 and my “guest/wife” pc is on a i5-6500 (in a h310) I’m more motivated to upgrade for the mobo differences from my b360 than the cpu differences, but I do plan to upgrade both, just haven’t NEEDED to yet.

I’m running a 10980Xe as my daily driver with 10 cores at 5Ghz and the rest at 4.5Ghz. Considering that with quad channel and dual rank 4000Mhz RAM at CL14 it still beats most Raptor Lake setups with DDR5 when it comes to memory performance, it’s hard to justify a new build when most the performance increases would be on paper and mostly imperceptible to me.

I went from a 10600k to a 13600k with a Rtx 3090, same as you. I honestly cannot say there was much of a difference, Because with 4k your running lower fps which loads the cpu less.

I think I had less micro stuttering but that's about all I can really figure.

Skipping for now, 1070ti getting an upgrade is more important. Next gen only games seem to be putting 3060ti/6700XT as the recommended spec for 1080p, so something around there first.

Then I'll see if I need a cpu bump as well and wait for Arrow lake or Zen5 before making a choice.

No regrets.

I would not have upgraded from 11700K or 11900K though. 11th and 12th gen perform so close to eachother in general.

9900kf and no plans to upgrade any time soon.

Mate I'm still riding (or dying) with my 4700K! On my third motherboard for it, but they're super cheap now.

And yes I'm probably going to be skipping LGA1700 (as well as LGA1200). Unless you count laptops then I've got a 6th Gen and looking at adding an 8th Gen.

I’m coming from a 9700k and have just purchased a 14700k. It’s in a box with all the other bits ready to be put together.

I usually aim for 5-6 years from a system and my current system is just over 5.

Felt like the right time to make the move.

I'm updating two computers atm.

My main computer was an i7-770k and went to a 14700k (GTX1080)

I also have an i3-8100 and jumping that to a 12600k... (for VR play GTX1060)

- Holding out on video cards till CES 2024 to hopefully update them.

Currently with i5 10400 I got after having i5-2500k, had an itch to upgrade lately but no point now with 2nd kid arriving soon :P Better wait and save, grab a good kit 2 yrs from now when I'll have some more free time again. I hope Intel will kick ass with their GPUs by then too. A750 turned out excellent bang for buck even with its new-arrival tech quirks.

I’m on an 11900K/3080Ti at the moment and it seems just fine to me, even with 4K gaming. Although I did seriously consider upgrading to 14900K thanks to discounts over Black Friday but in the end decided to wait for the next gen Intel 4 stuff.

Have 11900. Not in a rush.

Skipping. Why should i bother to update with a 10900kf at 5ghz, 1440p 144hz and a 4070ti?

10700k and a 2080 super still does what i need it to do. So it’ll stay as long as that continues.

That's totally valid. 10th Gen is still quite recent and very powerful. Best to upgrade when there's a real huge leap

Went from the 8700K to 13700KF... Have a 4070 but getting whatever comes for the 5000 series probably will finance a 5080 lol

10700k OC'd to 5.0 all core, still going strong with a 3070 in 1440p. Probably upgrading to a 4070 super when that comes out. That will be the real test for the 10700k.

I know this is only Intel, but I have a 5950X (released same year as 10900K) and honestly I don't plan to upgrade anytime soon, at least 3-4 years. Next cpu will be Intel most likely. I hope they have something good up their sleeves.

My 10700k it's running just fine paired with my 3080 honestly I'm gonna see what next gen gpus have to offer but as of now I don't need it upgrade at all

I've been running an 10850k for the better part of 3 years now and it still feels pretty fast for what I use it for. I'm also a college broke boy so I won't be upgrading anytime soon. Maybe I'll treat myself when I finish as a graduation present.
