I’m coming from a 9700k and have just purchased a 14700k. It’s in a box with all the other bits ready to be put together.

I usually aim for 5-6 years from a system and my current system is just over 5.

Felt like the right time to make the move.

I’ve just picked up a 14700k as well and have purchased the MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi.

I plan on putting the system together this week so will report back.

I’m not expecting any issues though.

It seemed to have a pretty solid position in terms of price and features.

ASUS isn’t what it once was. Lots of people having all sorts of issues with them.

MSI or Asrock seem like solid choices.

I’m wanting to upgrade this month as I’ve previously posted. I’m going from a 9700k.

Initially I was looking at the 14700k but now I’m considering the AM5 platform.

It’s cheaper, the socket will have a longer lifespan and the 7800X3D is superior in games.

What are people’s thoughts?

Black Friday sales here in New Zealand are coming up from this Friday and I'm thinking about an upgrade from my 9700k.

My current system is:
9700k clocked all cores at 5ghz
32gb DDR4 @ 3200
3080Ti

I game at 1440p (165hz monitor) playing Tarkov, BF, Horizon Zero Dawn and a few others.

Talk me into it... or not. Should I consider another Intel CPU?

7800X3D in NZ is exactly the same price and the motherboards are actually more expensive. From what I've read in my research so far the 7800X3D is usually cheaper than the 14700k and I'm not keen based on what I'm hearing about various issues with USB, memory stability and uneven performance.
