I have the Asus z790p with an i9 13900kf, 64gb ddr5 5600mhz, Samsung 980 2tb, rtx 4090 Gam Rock & works fine for me. I'm no pc buff so don't know about all the tweaking except the very basics.

CPU Cooling problems: Just like 95C is normal for Ryzen, 100C is normal for Intel CPUs in many workloads. If you're worried about CPU temperatures, please look at reviews for the laptop or CPU cooler you're using.

I have the Z790-p, the onboard Realtek audio works with windows 2000, and the onboard Realtek LAN supports windows 7. Great compatibilty I got it with the 13700k bundle
ASUS isn’t what it once was. Lots of people having all sorts of issues with them.
MSI or Asrock seem like solid choices.
I went back to asus after a series of problems with 2 different asrock boards. (X570 steel legend that was starting to flake and a z490 board that completely died)
Yeah but the bundles I'm looking at are ASUS or bust. Theres an MSI one with a 14700k for a bit more but it doesnt even come ready for 14th gen so...
And AMD just seems to be a flat out nightmare with their bundles.
I got a 14700k with an MSI Z790i Edge. No claims of being 14th Gen ready out of the box but it was able to boot into bios and update it. It would not detect the m.2 ssd until updated though.
I just built with the i7-13700k and asus z790-p wifi.
It's been money and have had no issues. I did not install armoury crate though. Bought all corsair fans and just use icue for my rgb.
I'd go for the 13700K bundle between these two.
I have the Asus Prime Z790-A paired with a 13700K, and it's a solid board. Worked right out of the box with only minor tweaking in the BIOS to get the CPU running at a decent undervolt (although I had also installed a contact frame). For a gaming-oriented build, it's been working great.
The Prime-P in this bundle looks like it has a slightly weaker VRM, but I wouldn't expect it to struggle with handling a 13700K.
You will want to make sure you take a look at the default voltage settings in the BIOS and adjust as necessary. Asus' quality is fine from what I've experienced, but they have been known to pump up voltages for these CPUs.
Have you had any issues with USB disconnects or the ethernet dropping out or anything like that?
None that I can speak of from personal experience. The PC has been in pretty much daily use for a few months now without Ethernet dropping or any of the USB devices disconnecting (mouse, microphone, keyboard, printer, portable drive).
Ok, mightve been an isolated issue then, no one else in this thread mentioned anything either. I just brought it up since i had some people in other threads mention it to me and a lot of reviews on newegg seemed to mention significant problems.
I think internet issues were fixed long time back as there was an issue with Intel ethernet getting disconnected, the newer drivers have definitely fixed them as I have seen no new reports of issues anywhere online, I myself pulled a trigger and purchased an 14700KF build today along with Asus ROG Z790-H wifi, Gskill 7200 CL34 32gb kit and 990 pro 2TB which I got for a great deal, even though prices where I live is much higher than US I can say it was worth the route I took to build, I also explored the option of AMD as the 7800X3D cost just $10 more than 14700KF but the motherboard for AM5 are just ridiculously high where I live and even the B650 E-F costs more and I thought it wasn't worth the price I would spend overall even though I would have loved the AMD build personally.
Yeah my thing with microcenter's 7800x3d bundle is the parts seem to have so many QC issues i don't wanna touch that with a ten foot pole.
Il still rocking Asus boards for gaming builds. Never an issue.
