So it's basically how they do penalties in ice hockey

In ice hockey you get your penalty and your team does down a man for x amount of time (often 2 mins)

Shame our refs suck so it will be butchered and dropped

A lot of distrust in the comments, I think the point is that the lines are blurred so frequently between yellow and red cards that this gives us something to give for a controversial offence. Effectively solving the current problem

I honestly think its a really good idea. Lets say it was a definite orange and a red/yellow was given? Harsh/soft but not as infuriating as a definite yellow being turned into a red or vice versa, it will be much more bearable and vastly improve the perspective we have of the officiating imo.

I am understanding that a yellow + orange would still mean a sending off (red) right?

The continued destruction of “the beautiful game”. Now that we are all programmed to expect lengthy reviews, and this will add to it, let’s add TV timeouts so commercials can be played. Why even have yellow and red cards let’s just have penalty boxes like hockey. Let’s just suck the life right out of the game.

Refs - We Don't Know What We're Doing

Also Refs - Let's Add More Stuff to Screw Up

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That would be amazing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not for cynical fouls. That’s what the yellow and red cards are for. Would like to see sin-bins used more for things like dissent and time-wasting.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t think this helps if the issue is they actually blatantly miss calls through obvious bias (toward colleagues specifically). How many times will the argument now be orange yellow red. I don’t think adding more ways for refs to affect game will have positive effects. Maybe at international level since it’s a bit more diverse and better trained refs overall. The premiership would suffer due to its own incompetence in setting high standards for the refs.

Load of shit. If the game was played how it should be they’d be no need

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Why do they keep changing the game? We had it down in the 90s. No amount of micro managing can fix refereeing, it’s just making things worse.

Let the man in the middle call it, he’s human, it’s not perfect, and that’s the fun of it.

I don’t even know if I understand the off side rule anymore.

And a purple card for an extra substitution, and a blue card for a 2 min break to put on warmer clothes, and a green card for free transfer in next window, and a pink card just because!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m blind I’m deaf I wanna be a ref

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The game is called Football (Soccer) not Ice Hockey, not Basketball, not Baseball, Leave it alone, it’s already fucked up where people don’t even know what’s a handball, off-side, foul any more. Stop tinkering with it. You’re are taking all the fun and spontaneity out of the game. Slowing it down with stupid shit. 💩

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I mean they can’t even correctly decide between red cards and yellow cards, why are we gonna confuse them even more?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Fucking yes please.

Make it 5min of live ball time tho

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

News flash to fans rules of the game have changed over the years. So before complaining let’s see what happens.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Soo Hockey's Penalty boxes then?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I know we're all cynical to new referee changes, but this seems like a pretty good idea. I'm so tired of the last fifteen minutes of a game being loaded with tactical fouls with no real repercussions. Hopefully it'll make games a lot more open.

This won't solve the crappy refereeing thus far but it also isn't meant to do that.

Pep and klopp Will hate this!

“Sin bin” such an early 2000s hockey reference

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What an awful idea

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Please just no

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Fernandinho and Rodri have been the best at this for years, the thing is I can only see it affecting lower teams because the 2 above mentioned got away with countless times and I can see the other teams in the top 6 doing it too without much impact.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What an absolutely terrible idea. Who is coming up with this crap and how are they getting their jobs? Ridiculous.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly doing what rugby has done by reviewing cards during a sin bin period could work

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm interested to see it. Red cards can make games extremely boring. Sometimes it feels like too harsh a punishment, especially if the red was for 2 yellows, and one was for something trivial like kicking the ball away. Of course, you're stupid to do anything which can get you sent off when you're already on a yellow, but 10 mins with 10 men should be a strong deterrent without necessarily defining the whole game.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Should make it the serious foul option and work it like the bunker in rugby, so it can be upgraded to a red or reduced to a yellow and the player allowed to continue after 10 minutes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Makes sense.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Great.... something else for VAR to fuck up.
