Hello, i'm a simple man, i enjoy playing only a few games, and one of them is civlization

I want to get a fixable* switch, fix* it as hard as possible to be able to play Civilization VI (and maybe skyrim?)

My questions are:

  • Will i face any issues in particular about this game?

  • how long would the battery last

  • performance?

*(Fixable/fix, because all the switches are broken, they don't allow you to pirate out of the box😂)

Since this is the Switch community maybe this is a dumb question, but wouldn’t a Steam Deck suit your needs a bit better?

As to not be completely useless; I get about 2-3 hours on my Switch when not docked. Haven’t spent a lot of time in Civ or Skyrim though, particularly not undocked, so I can’t say for sure there, but I’d assume around 2 hours at least, provided the battery is still good.

Steam deck is about two times more expensive 😮‍💨

Also it's bulkier. And about the battery, switch is arm, so supposed to be less power hungry.

Ah that's fair.

I did some Googling and it seems like the newer versions of the Switch (I didn't even know there were newer versions) have better battery life than the OG. Definitely agree that the Switch is a wonderful platform, if only it wasn't so damned locked down.

To be fair that goes for pretty much all platforms. If I buy the blasted thing I should be able to do whatever I want with it, I feel. Makes no sense that Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft can still control the system when they no longer own it.
