This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

I'd just use a bandsaw to cut off the spine and stick it in a document feeder.
Leave that poor woman alone you psycho!
If the book is not that easily available (old, rare), it's much better to keep it intact.
This must be how you get "binders full of women"
