I'm primarily a PC gamer and so many games would not be accessible to me if I made the switch to Linux, not to mention quite a few programs I use for my job. I tried to make the switch a few times and was not able to because of this.
If the games you play are competitive ones, sure. Only because the devs or publishers actively choose to exclude linux. So far, I've yet to try a game that hasn't worked on linux.
What are programs that you use for work that don't have linux equivalents or are incompatible? I've made the full switch, but if I really need to, I can remote into a Windows work computer for specific things like SAP access.
The games I play are competitive mostly yes, and while it does bother me that they actively exclude Linux, there's not much I can do.
I work in application development and actually can't even use windows for development of iOS programs so that kind of is a separate issue anyway.
That's all changed. Checkout Protondb
I'll take a look at that; would that allow me to play games like Valorant?
There's still a lot of games that don't work in linux due to antcheat not working. A lot of the big online competitive games don't work.
Such as...? I'm willing to bet 95+% of the games you play actually play perfectly fine in Linux.
Valorant is the main one off the top of my head, for example. Yes I'm aware of the issues with the anti cheat system but I play for a team and it's a big part of my life.
