I'm sorry to hear that losing Boost has been hard! I agree that it's more like a vacation, or possibly even an upgrade. Think bout the fact that reddit wasn't adding features for the benefit of users, it was focused on padding its bottom-line. This meant that features on clients like Boost were often limited. For example, Boost didn't have reddit chat or gifs in comments, probably because the API didn't allow for it.
On the other hand, lemmy and fediverse users are driven entirely by the goal of making amazing things for the community. Clients and apps are first-class citizens, so features will roll out to all of them pretty steadily. I expect Boost for lemmy will be way better than Boost for reddit ever was.
