Cat-dog is a type of dog, else they’d have been called dog-cat.
You mean like how a red panda is a p... Erm... Raccoon?
It's for red-eye,I think. Pets eyes reflect light differently from humans and each other's so automatic (human) red eye removal doesn't work.
Probably a placebo to make people think the camera is smarter than it really is
