!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

MODERATORS

I'm sure there are countless apps out there that are incredibly cool, interesting, or useful, but just haven't hit the mainstream yet. Maybe it's a productivity tool that's boosted your efficiency, a unique game that's kept you entertained for hours, or a niche app that's catered perfectly to one of your hobbies or interests.

What are some Android hidden gem apps that you've used a bunch or think it's really cool/interesting/useful?

Please share your recommendations, and if possible, a brief description of what the app does and why you find it so valuable.

Looking forward to uncovering some hidden treasures in the Android app world. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Oh no, I didn’t stop!

I finished my search for “obscure content” (which it is actually old cartoons and tv shows in my native language to improve my nostalgic DizqueTV channels lol), I don’t need to look up too hard for current content because Sonarr and Radarr along with the public torrent trackers (and one private) can handle this pretty well without seeing a single ad :)

That's great

And make sure never surrender to the greedy media corporations, my fellow sailer!

What did stop me a bit was the fact that I filled up all my NAS lol, but to offload some charge I got a Real Debrid account which I use with Stremio and Kodi.

Ah yeah, I know the struggle. I just expanded my NAS to over 100TB, I'm downloading and hosting an incredibly large media library for the entire family. Everyone is connected through Tailscale (running my own Headscale server), it's awesome. I thought about getting RealDebrid, but I will stick to my seedbox as I like the decentralized P2P aspect of the BitTorrent network and I want to support it by seeding as much as possible.

I get it, to be honest I always seed the shit I download lol, I have symlinks or whatever they are called made by Softwarr so it doesn't affect me where they are being downloaded, I can have my stuff nicely organized and recognizable by Plex, I also do share my PMS, but only with a cousin.

Remember, sharing is caring! I even offer my friends access to my Jellyfin, Tailscale with self-hosted Headscale is such an awesome tool for that.

And do they actually use it?

I mean, even when my PMS doesn't require a VPN to interact with it (thanks to adjustments on my end) they don't always use it 😂

I can't see they would never use it if they need to have Tailscale on lol.

And do they actually use it?

Of course, it's basically free Netflix. But unlike Netflix, I don't randomly remove content from my library. Unlike Netflix, I don't have an artificial limit on simultaneous video streams. If someone wants to watch a specific piece of content, they can use Jellyseerr to request it and I will try to find it on a public or private torrent tracker and add it to the library. Connecting to Tailscale is just a minor inconvenience for essentially getting free and unlimited Netflix.

Well, try to argue with that with my audience 😂

I see your point and yeah, it is kinda impressive that we can deliver a better service for the best price of all, free.

Obviously we can deliver a better service. We aren't greedy profit-driven multi billion dollar corporations. We don't see our users as customers whom we can extract every single penny out of.
