Is anyone actually experiencing this? I find it too much of a coincidence that after the second reload, there is another option that shows up, Skip to Highlight, and it seems to belong to SponsorBlock. Which, incidentally, seems to be have experienced performance issues with its API in the past, which is through an external HTTPS query that the change in user agent in the header would also affect: https://github.com/ajayyy/SponsorBlock/issues/1554
I’m experiencing this. It began happening when they took away “sort by oldest” (which is back now) and made that annoying stupid back glow. I’ve had this happening for a while now and I’m elated there’s a fix.
Do you have SponsorBlock installed by any chance?
I do not, actually! Most of the folks my partner and I watch do fun things for their sponsor stuff (Internet Historian, Internet Comment Etiquitte, OrdinaryThings, YSAC, Papa Meat, etc) so we’ve never installed that. We just skip the boring channels’ sponsored bits.
Thanks for the response, it made me read up more on the problem. It seems to be due to code in YouTube's redesign of their engine, Polymer, so it lines up with what you said. The best explanations seem to be these, https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/17ywbjj/comment/ka08uqj/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/17ywbjj/comment/k9w3ei4/
Thank you for some sources! I do indeed use Firefox.
I spoofed to the latest Chrome and it no longer has the delay. This is wild.
Multiple people have corroborated it and an extension issue wouldn't fix itself on agent change
