Do you have SponsorBlock installed by any chance?

I do not, actually! Most of the folks my partner and I watch do fun things for their sponsor stuff (Internet Historian, Internet Comment Etiquitte, OrdinaryThings, YSAC, Papa Meat, etc) so we’ve never installed that. We just skip the boring channels’ sponsored bits.

Thanks for the response, it made me read up more on the problem. It seems to be due to code in YouTube's redesign of their engine, Polymer, so it lines up with what you said. Thank you for some sources! I do indeed use Firefox.

I spoofed to the latest Chrome and it no longer has the delay. This is wild.
