@[email protected] have you ever thought about making the app open source? I've used Connect for a little bit and I really like it, it would be really cool if the app was open source. You practically don't have anything to loose, as you don't sell the app or insert ads and trackers. Lemmy is an open-source plattform, and many (if not most) other apps are also open source, I think Connect should follow that direction. This would also allow you to publish the app on F-Droid.

Is development dead on it?

I don't think so, but it would still be nice if it was FOSS

Oh yeah, that's not what I meant. I just mean I feel like the developer has abandoned it. I don't know if they're even looking at this community anymore.

I'm still here :) just taking a bit of a break but still reading everything in this community.

Okay, good to hear! App is solid!

Great! Good to know that you're still around. The app has been very good and I hope the major bugs will eventually get fixed.

The most recent statement we have from @kuro_[email protected] is that they are taking a break but have not abandoned the project: https://lemmy.ca/comment/3095598

I'm ok just taking some time for personal things. Regular updates will resume soon :)

That was almost two months ago and they haven't posted anything on Lemmy since that. I hope they haven't forgotten about Lemmy altogether. Would be nice to have at least the major bugs fixed. Or let people know whether this project is abandoned or not.

Good news, dev just replied to me, not abandoned.

I just mean I feel like the developer has abandoned it.

Oh, that would be unfortunate.

I don’t know if they’re even looking at this community anymore.

I hope they do and I hope they see this post, because if the app is abandoned and gets open sourced, a new maintainer could take over and continue development and maintenance of Connect.
