As far as I can tell, subscribing to a community instantly kills all activity in that community. I don't think I've seen any activity in any of the communities I've subscribed to. So as far as I can tell Lemmy is a place people go to talk about which instances are defederating which other instances. I might stop logging in.

Sort by new and accept the fact that it doesn't have millions of users and isn't one of the top ten websites on the internet, contrary to Reddit.

Oh and subscribe to communities on bigger instances.
