No, I'm one of those very cognizant democratic socialists who knows the difference between a tankie and neo-nazis playing dress up as leftists.
Funny thing about real socialists and communists, they hate authoritarianism too.
Hexbear/Lemmygrad are extreme and authoritarian, but that does not a Nazi make.
Just call them tankies, no need to dilute the waters with Nazi co-opting of left wing concepts. All that does is associate socialism and nazism, something no real leftist would do.
The term you're looking for is neo-nazi. It stands for neo-liberal national socialist. They believe in liberalism, and socialism, but only under the yoke of authoritarianism.
It doesn't stand for anything. It's just "Neo-Nazism" and the "neo" means "new," and just distinguishes them as post-WW2 nazis. Neo-nazis do not believe in liberalism or socialism.
I'm not convinced these 'tankies' believe in anything at all, it all feels like a fake display so they can spread propaganda under the radar of most people.

They constantly criticize “libs”, though, by which they mean classical or neo-liberalism.
And yet say they are lgbtq friendly, and consider themselves materialists.
I've found that self-identified leftists oppose the identity politics characteristic of US style liberalism. Some say this is because divisions in society such as gender, orientation and race, are used to distract from class and economic issues. Theoretically communism is egalitarian in terms of race and gender. They seem to hate the US politicians who advocate for race/gender/orientation equality and workers rights though, while rarely criticizing the fascist wing, so it doesn't all make much sense to me.
If self awareness was a disease they'd be the healthiest people alive.
So like, do you understand what materialism means in socialist philosophy? It's clear by the way you've used the word in this thread that you think it just means "likes having stuff."
How do you run around calling yourself a socialist when you don't even know what historical and dialectical materialism are?

You're deflecting again. You said in another comment "they say they are communists yet they engage in materialism." You could just own up and say that you don't know what you're talking about.

Neoliberalism is a rightwing reimagining of the already rightwing Liberalism. Its primary concerns are how to reduce social benefits, fuck over citizens, and further enrich the rich.

Curious to know your thoughts on the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with their specific ideology. I'd have to do some research.
I did some cursory research and would summarise my findings as such:
The CPI supports the idea of socializing key industries and natural resources to ensure that they are controlled by the state and used for the benefit of all citizens. They believe in the redistribution of wealth and the elimination of private property, as well as the establishment of a classless society where everyone is equal. The CPI also advocates for democratic rights and freedoms, including freedom of speech, assembly, and press. Overall, their ideology is centered around creating a more equitable and just society through socialism and communal ownership.
Based on this understanding of their ideals I'd be very much in support of their plight, unfortunately it seems they were removed from the National Party roster earlier this year due to a lack of local support. I can't speak to the complexities of these situations or any local issues the party faced.
Idk if you read the correct party's history. The CPI(Maoist) has been banned from entering the Electoral Process since its creation as well as its predecessor parties since the 1970s and declared as a 'Terrorist' Organization. It is the only Communist Party in India engaged in a People's War against the Fascist Hindutva Brahmanical Regime. The only party which is struggling for the rights of the Oppressed in India. They do advocate for the things you described.
The disappointing reality is that a lot of authoritarian dipshits calling themselves leftist genuinely believe that's how socialism is supposed to work.
Humanity's default is tribalism. It's how your brain wants to think. It's easy and satisfying and it tends to work okay. So in any ideology, there's people trying to apply that model, because that's how they believe everything works. Reasoned argument is a learned behavior and they opted out. That's hard to distinguish from someone being wrong on purpose just to fuck with you, but it is distinct, in ways that are dangerous to miss.
