I mean, not recently, but yeah. People trying to make the crimes of the USA and the crimes of Russia the same, especially in this conflict is silly. Also, even if it was the same, it still wouldn't be okay by any measure.
We were doing this regularly as a matter of policy with illegal immigrants until...let me check my notes...the 2020's.

I don't support much of anything Russia has ever done, but this is not a point where we have any moral high ground over them whatsoever.
They did it to the natives way back then. It also happened in Canada and Australia, it's a tried and true colonialist tactics.
Well, no. Not unless you count slaves before the civil war, immigration camps during Trump or the Japanese internment camps in WW2.
You can always reframe it, I guess. Russia probably tells it like โwe rescue children from a poor country run by Nazis and their parents who fight usโ.
Similarly, the West: โwe rescue children from t the ISIS regime and their terrorist parents who fight usโ.
