I don't believe it's creepy for two consenting adults with a large age gap to date. If a 25 year old woman dates a 50 year old man, I don't think it's creepy. It's none of my business. I don't judge them.

A man who dates younger women is called "creepy." A woman who dates younger men is called a cougar. Leonardo DiCaprio was judged harshly for dating a 19 year old woman. Most older women are not judged for dating younger men.

Sometimes it's hard to find a partner of the same age. For example, if a man divorces at 50, it would be hard to find a 50 year old woman. He would have to date someone younger.

The double standard is that men get judged harshly. Society has to change it's attitude.

Ahem... ex bartender here. ANYONE over the age of 21 who seeks out and dates people under 21 is at VERY LIKELY a person who would have sex with a child.

The scenario is as such: people over 21 ply their underage dates with alcohol. EVERY time they go out. It is the basis of the relationship. The young girl will often be the only one in a group of all guys and she'll always be overdressed (seen it a million times) and the girl is always already drunk when they got to my bar. But I would ID and then they'd get mad and leave. But yea. If you're under 21 dating an over 21 year old 9 times out of 10 the older person is supplying alcohol to the younger GF.

So that being said I am disgusted by those age gaps. Because you cannot lie to me, I'm no fool. That isn't a healthy relationship pretty much ever.

Such an American response. Alcohol consumption is legal under the age of 21 in many countries outside of the US and it's completely ordinary for a university student finishing their first degree at 22 to have sexual relations with another university student starting their degree at 17 or 18.
