This is almost certainly doomsaying, but:
This is exactly what a company would do if they were planning to kill the project and then hire the authors.
Even I don't really believe that's the case. But I am so far beyond giving any corporation any benefit of any doubt these days.
What if it was all a ploy to get them to sign some legal documents with their names, along with maybe some sneaky language in the NDA making shutting them down easier / more bulletproof.
Agreed, never trust corporations. Even if they don't do something bad this time, they will.
