Deodorant smells gross. People smell fine. Fkn state of the world, convincing humans that smelling like a human is bad.
Ever left the house? You'll change your opinion right quick when you're behind a random guy in the grocery store and you get a strong whiff of sour milk that has been out in the sun for a week.
Thank god for deodorant (and regular showers).
Maybe the guy you're responding to lives somewhere in East Asia? A lot of people there have a gene which makes them have no body odor. I can confirm from personal experience - my friend from Taiwan doesn't even own deodorant and she never smells, even after hiking all day in hot weather.

Like Asian earwax is super dry and flaky, while European earwax looks like yellow green toxic goop.
So you have different genes and on top of that different diets (I had Indian neighbors once, you could smell the curry in the entire hallway of the building 24/7. But they obviously use a ton of spices when cooking).
As a central European Caucasian guy I personally start to smell really bad without deodorant just after a day or so. No matter how often I shower or what I eat. I also tried to switch to deodorant without aluminum and that didn't work out at all :-/
I'm Asian. If my earwax is super dry and flaky, I hate to see the sludge coming out of other people's ears.
As for deodorant, I switched to a smaller variety of Tom's in my travel kit because the travel-sized ones from big box stores suck. I think the one I bought is aimed at women since their website shows bigger, blacker packaging for their deodorant aimed at men. I'm thinking of switching over to my travel kit ones on a permanent basis because of the fresh lemongrass and lavender scents.
