What is a good affordable barrier against grass? (self.gardening)

I have cloth grow bags but the grass manages to make its way in from the bottom.

Any recommendations on what to put underneath? Something affordable is preferred and it only has to last one season. Thanks in advance.

If you water once a week then I'd say 2 layers of cardboard.
