Rules

  1. Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
  2. When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.
  3. The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.

The usual instance-wide rules also apply.

Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Not a fan of it by any means, but it shit down ~11 days ago and no one mentioned it.

Every link to something on the instance redirects to this: https://imgur.com/XpxDJTg

Since lemmy posts are links, every image post is now that image.

The admin (local account on lemm.ee https://lemm.ee/u/[email protected] ) said it was because of the harassment culture on lemmy (https://lemm.ee/post/64686772 ), and blamed sunshine and beaver for doing something? (https://lemm.ee/post/63664605/20610349 -- the post this is in reply to is gone, but the comment is in the local copy of the person's profile.)

Anyone know what happened?

Got shut down after this post on MOG was made:

Which he (Hamid) responded to with this:

This was the last comment he made:

I think I am for real I’m done with Lemmy lol

This is the funniest part of the harassment thread

This comment is talking about Sunshine/Beaver who came to my instance after that. I had nothing to do with it πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

tl;dr: he was sick of getting into lemmy drama

Hey, the picture changed

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I don't blame them, lemmy drama is shockingly toxic as hell. I don't blame them removing the instance and retiring as admin.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lemmy as a whole feels very toxic, i don't blame him at all and wish him the best.

I am starting to question the rationale behind admins banning people for being on toxic websites when people can say the same thing about the fediverse itself (take Leni for instance).

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It can be tiring at times, but it's unavoidable with a federated model.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Its unavoidable on centralised platforms too.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago

Oh, indeed. Ironically, it's much less visible because it's silenced by the admins.

  1. Makes deliberately inflammatory comment to make a point
  2. People are mildly rude in response to the inflammatory comment
  3. HOW DARE YOU, I'M LITERALLY CRYING, I'M GOING HOME FOREVER

1 is fine. 2 is fine. That's how things work. I have no idea, though, how someone who reacts with 3 expects to be able to manage ordinary day-to-day life. Let alone weigh in on a situation of death and destruction and geopolitical crime against humanity. Like, if this is your bar for what makes you quit, your movement is going to be pretty fucking easy for the establishment to destroy.

I'm not saying that everyone needs to toughen up and put up with whatever treatment they receive. I'm just saying that, in particular since it looks like the #2 response was actually quite a bit milder than the #1 inflammatory original post, the DARVO reaction featured in #3 seems kind of needlessly extra.

One fine example of such:

I looked up the context because I was kind of curious, and I really remembered why I don't go to those places on the federated internet anymore.

Well, partly because I am banned, but also because it is a hostile waste of time. They are both valid reasons I guess lol.

I noticed that vegantheoryclub.org now redirects to that picture on imgur.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I mentioned that in the post :P

[–] kersploosh 8 points 3 days ago

My bad. Me not read good.

Which he (Hamid) responded to with this:

That link seems to be broken.

Oops, sorry :p i can see it fine because admins can, didn't realize users can't. Here's a screenshot:

DING DING Hey Sunshine, get a life you fucking loser. It is weird that you are obsessed with me and have to follow me around on Lemmy but I would find something better to do with my time. I wrote this specifically on a week old inactive thread to see how long it would take for you to post this on your harassment sub you sick creep and it actually worked LOL. Having a difference of opinion about anything doesn’t mean you need to follow someone around and post about them and create drama. Making dozens of accounts so you can manipulate Lemmy is truly unhinged behavior. Get mental help you stalker.

This was under a normal megathread for the instance
