Contractor installed this convoluted p-trap + elbow for the washer, and I'm not sure if it's up to code. Can you confirm and more importantly explain why or why not it's compliant?

i'm assuming you're referring to the picture you posted in the comments? if so, kinda need a few clarifications. the 90 turning into the 4" and the connection they make? looks like a vent only from the way it's run, and i hope there isn't anything significant draining into that 4" from above. also what the hell is that 2"(?) line going up then back down?????

the s trap is a little fucky. definitely should've just been a regular p trap with a horizontally placed 45ยฐ and most of the code asks for a stand pipe to dump into or a wash basin and not direct connected like yours is to prevent unsavory situations.
