This is a blast from the past when Bush went for steel tariffs

In retaliation, the European Union threatened to counter with tariffs of its own on products ranging from Florida oranges to cars produced in Michigan, with each tariff calculated to likewise hurt the President in a key marginal state. The United States backed down and withdrew the tariffs on December 4.

Difference is that Trump doesn't give a shit about support for the next election. He only cares to please Putin.

Congress cares and he has far less power if congress is against him.

MAGA congress critters are all generally in safe, gerrymandered districts.

How many of Trumps actions were blocked by congress?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

None. That's the point. He needs their support so they continue not blocking him.

Will be many if the stock market does not rebound soon enough.

So as of now it's none?
Because he hasn't already been crazy enough for congress to stop him?
Republicans in congress are crazy too, and it requires qualified majority (66%) to stop an executive order AFAIK.

As of now. But there are some who are already making a push back and even Fox news are starting to question Trump. After all, Trump keeps flip flopping because obviously some are already expressing frustrations behind closed doors.

If the silly tariff threats goes on long enough, enough people will become overtly angry.

The day I see some real serious push-back against Trump, will be a day for celebration.
And by real serious, I mean a lot more than just impeachment that turns out nothing, or the cancellation of a few presidential orders.
I mean real attempts to actually stop him from destroying USA and democracy.

I'm not American, but I don't enjoy seeing USA being destroyed like it is now. We need more sensible leaders in the world, not fewer.

Yeah. He had Cheney as his handler. The same Cheney who was on stage talking about great Harris is.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 16 hours ago

He did have a sort of handler co-president though, so that hasn't changed
