Didn't say anywhere that I thought it depicted accurately American life. You're really assuming a lot out of one sentence.

That said, I think it is a fact that people did dress in a more tasteful manner then. I like all the suits and dresses over shorts and lululemon lol.

I don't think it's a controversial concept that people in the postwar era wore more suits/dresses.

Just look up photos from back then.

Personally I would hate to have to wear a suit, but I can see why people like the aesthetic.
