  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Not going to happen but one or both sides refusing to play would be a massive “Fuck you!” To Trump and let the NFL know who they should be beholden to. Wouldn’t even take every player, just most of a side.

I'm hoping Kendrick covers Fuck Donald Trump at the Halftime show. Won't happen, but a man can dream.

You're right, that isn't going to happen 😉

Also, keep in mind that every position has at least one backup

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

True but who is going to tune in to a bunch of backups playing?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Well, admittedly I imagined that developing game night when everyone has already tuned in, but you're right that that's not necessarily the case. Still, the parties at home are already planned and at that point you might as well have the game on anyway because those who really care about football will want their last fix anyway

I mean, wouldn't the game not happening be such a big deal that even people who aren't normally interested would tune in just to see all the drama? I never watched it, but if such a protest happened I would likely be interested to see that.

Most of these players are probably of the "I got mine" mindset. They're not going to blow that up for ethics

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Yeah, but people tune into the game to watch the best players in the game that season. Backups playing against backups would be horrible (though prob funny to watch).

However, they'd kind of be scabs in that case, and fuck scabs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Can you imagine having to explain that, though?

Nothing would stop someone who made it to the Superbowl to not play. Especially since many (most?) of them probably support him. I know the Chiefs kicker Butker does. They're rich as hell you know.
