Nah, they are just following the fads. They will play shitter until that isn't keeping them on the level with the other oligarchs, then they will switch up to the flavor of the day again.

Exactly this. Facebook was all about favoring Dems when they Dems were in power. Now that Repubs are, they switched sides quick. And twitter would have done the same thing if Musk wouldn't have bought it.
